"Accordingly to Anand's benchmarks, the difference L3 cache makes actually is pretty impressive. A K6-3 with 2MB L3 cache is whopping 11% faster then the same chip with no L3 cache in Winstone99 (9,5% faster in Winstone98). A K6-3 with 1MB L3 cache(wich is what the fantastic majority of Socket-7 motherboards have these days) is 5,5% faster in Winstone99 and 6% faster in Winstone98. That's pretty impressive, given that in some cases it means the difference between the K6-3@350 being slower than a PII-400, or faster."
