Ik kwam bij het nieuws van BX Boards een link tegen naar Overclockers' Workbench waar ik op de frontpage wat info afkomstig van Computex zag over de Abit BP6 die mij wel interessant leek.
De reviewer heeft het er namelijk over dat de BP6 8 aansluitingen zal bieden voor harde schijven wanwege de extra UDMA/66 chip. Dit zal dan waarschijnlijk ook wel het geval zijn bij de andere nieuwe Abit borden met extra ingebouwde UDMA/66 controller.
Verder zou het moederbord processoren van verschillende snelheden naast elkaar kunnnen draaien, dus bijvoorbeeld 333 en 400 MHz, wat natuurlijk ook erg handig kan zijn.

At 10am today, I saw the latest motherboards from ABIT. The one that impresses me most is the ABIT BP6. It features the BX chipset and yet supports UDMA/66. This is possible because it uses the highpoint UDMA/66 controller HPT366. Interestingly enough, it can support up to 4 IDE + 4 UDMA/66 drives. That's to say, 8 Hard disks.The BP6, innovative product from ABIT, also supports dual processing. a low cost solution by enabling two celerons to function as though it's a SMP machine. The featured machine was running Windows NT Workstation 4.0. Later on after lunch, I will test the performance of this machine.
One of the socket 370 will be master and the other will be slave. The difference is that in a conventional system, you need to use two processors of the same speed. In BP6, you can use two celerons of different speeds. You will actually be getting the speed of the Master Socket instead of the Slave socket.. e.g. 400 mhz and 333 Mhz will give you 400Mhz. e.g. 400+333 = 733???
Dat ziet er dus goed uit. Nu alleen maar hopen dat dit moederbord hier snel in de winkels zal liggen.
Celeron 466 + Abit BP6 mobo kopen. (en e.v.t. nog een tweede Celeron 466)
