PC Paradox heeft een artikel gebakken over de revolutie van 3D graphics op de pc, in de periode 1994-1996. Best wel leuk om eens een keer door te lezen. 1994:
However the real push that got 3D into the limelight came from Sony, with its Playstation console (first known as PS-X by the press and developers). Archer MacLean, veteran programmer of IK+, Jimmy White Whirlwind Snooker once said in an interview with Edge magazine, "..These new machines are going to make the 3DO look about this big: (holds finger and thumb centimeter apart)" he also said of the PS-X (even though he never mentioned it by name, pesky NDA's), "I've been down there and played with it and I just couldn't believe it." The rest is, of course, history but Archer was talking months before the Playstation was launched in Japan late 1994. When Sony showed their bundle of goodies to developers they never believed what they saw. This event woke up the PC industry and began the race to produce to produce specialized 3D cards. In fact it is a testament to the design (by Ken Kutargi) and marketing ingenuity of Sony that the Playstation is still here today 4 and a half years later.
