Designtechnica heeft de all-in-one pc van Sony onder de loep genomen. Deze pc uit de VAIO lijn, die door het leven gaat onder de naam PCV-W10, beschikt over een breedbeeld LCD-scherm met een resolutie van 1280x768. Het toetsenbord kan ingeklapt worden om ruimte op het bureau te besparen. De specificaties van deze design-pc zijn nog best stevig als je naar de grootte kijkt; Onder de motorkap vinden we een 1,6GHz Celeron, 512MB PC-2100 DDR, een 60GB harddisk en een DVD/CD-RW combodrive. Qua uitbreiding kan men rekenen op twee PCMCIA-slots. Voor gamers is de W10 echter minder geschikt, de geïntegreerde graphics van de SiS650 chipset staan niet bekend om hun hoge framerates. In 3D Mark2001 wordt de VAIO dan ook gemakkelijk gepasseerd door een directe concurrent: de Gateway Profile 4S.
De conclusie is dat Sony een mooi apparaat heeft gemaakt, waar veel aandacht is besteed aan het design en het gebruik in de huiskamer. De mening van de reviewer is echter dat Sony voor dit concept veel teveel geld vraagt en dat het gebruik alleen voorbehouden is aan Sony fans of mensen met een compleet design-interieur. De rest kan beter de Gateway kopen, die een stuk goedkoper is en ook nog eens 400MHz sneller. Een voordeel van de Sony boven de Gateway is wel de grote hoeveelheid meegeleverde software, waaronder PictureGear Studio:

It has four main aspects to it. Import Photos will let you transfer pictures from your digital camera onto the computer so that you can easily store them for future reference. The design of the program allows you to flow between its parts, but it has a launch screen as you can see that will allow you to choose what you want to do. Once the photos are on the computer you can do a number of different things with them. A slide show or a PhotoAlbum are probably the main two features that people will use the most. You can export a slide show of your recent pictures that you took from the trip to Utah and then send them to your relatives. You can also post your photo album directly from the program using Sony's ImageStation website.
