THIS MONTH, the closely held North Billerica, Mass., company expects to ship what is known as a terabit switch router, a device it says can handle 1,000 times the capacity of market leader Cisco Systems Inc.’s commercially available routers. A terabit router can handle a trillion bits a second, roughly the equivalent of 72 million simultaneous telephone calls.
