ECS has made it again with a super cheap solution based on the newer SiS745 chipset. In fact, we are glad that ECS has listened to the users by making a board which has all the overclocking features. We tried that and we were only able to overclock it up to 150Mhz stable with the most aggressive timings. We can't get it to 166Mhz even with a AthlonMP lowering the multiplier and setting Vcore to 1.85v. Perhaps by modifying the board and pushing the DDR to 2.6 or 2.7v might help.
The performance of the ECS K7S6A was quite a surprise for us. The Content Creation benchmark shows a positive sign about the performance but the results obtained in Quake3, DroneZ indicates that this board is only on par with the fastest boards out on the market right now. The SiS745 DDR333 support is there but running asynchronous mode at 133/166 is not as good as running it synchronously at 133/133. I think we should be able to see much improvements with a better tuned BIOS in the future.
