X-bit labs komt met het gerucht dat de Elitegroup (ECS) , dat meer moederborden verkoopt dan Asus, bezig is om Chaintech over te nemen. De inkomsten van het bedrijf zijn namelijk ondanks de hoge verkoop nog niet zo hoog. Daarom wil men deze overname doorvoeren om zo meer duurdere moederborden te gaan produceren:
