Bij Hard|OCP is een review verschenen van het Abit KT7E moederbord. Een vreemd plankje, niet alleen omdat het volgens de website van Abit niet bestaat, maar ook omdat de VIA KT133E chipset die erop zit nog niet is aangekondigd. Het enige dat we zeker weten is dat het een Socket A SDRAM chipset is met ondersteuning voor een 200MHz FSB. Ook zijn er geruchten dat deze chipset PowerNow technogie van AMD ondersteunt. Het moederbord is in ieder geval niet voorzien van toeters en bellen als onboard sound of IDE RAID controller. Toch is de front side bus goed over te klokken, zelfs tot iets boven de 266MHz. Dat maakt hem zeer aantrekkelijk voor zijn prijs, waardoor hij een zeldzame "Top Pick!" award verdient:
We could sit here and analyze it all day long but there is really little to this equation. Take a KT133A chipset, strip it down (or dress the KT133 up), make the board blue, steal just a bit of FSB performance (or give it a boost in the case of the KT133), make it inexpensive, and last but not least...make it a solid performer. I must say that ABIT's first attempt at being innovative in the last few years is probably going to pay off for them as I see this board going over big-time while helping bring DIYers and OCers back to their roots. Make it fast, cheap and good and they will buy it.
With that said, we would like to give this ABIT KT7E the [H]ardOCP Top Pick Award (which we have only given out once before) for keeping it real and looking after ALL of the tweakers out there. Like I said, ABIT gets back to their roots with this board both in terms of pricing, performance and innovation. Kudos to ABIT for not forgetting about the "little guys" that often get lost in the shuffle when it comes to companies chasing the almighty dollar, yen, mark or whatever it may be.
