Bij tüplay.com heeft men eens een blik geworpen op de Trek Thumbdrive 64MB. Qua concept is deze gelijk aan de 64MB USB sleutelhangers waar al eerder over is geschreven; een klein dingetje met een USB-aansluiting waar 64MB flashgeheugen in is verstopt.
Het apparaatje doet wat het moet doen; d.w.z. het schrijft en leest correct - zij het iets langzamer dan de opgegeven snelheden - en wordt door alle testsystemen onder verschillende besturingssystemen correct herkend. De reviewer vraagt zich echter af of het zijn geld wel waard is, voor $180 is het namelijk niet echt een koopje. De conclusie is toch redelijk positief, er zijn immers altijd wel mensen die zoiets kunnen gebruiken:
I'm finding that coming to a concrete conclusion with something that, due to its price/capacity is pretty much limited to folks with serious cash, is pretty difficult. People who actually need to transfer data, and don't want to deal with the delicacy of CDRs might find the Trek Thumbdrive as a handy little device. It's hard to find any major pluses or negatives, as it's such an uncomplicated device (from a usage standpoint).
However, if you have a need for a highly portable storage device, and don't want the fragility of CDR/RW's or the non-standardness of Zip drives, then it's well worth giving the Thumbdrive a look... just don't expect to find one for a realistic price.
