After running through the benchmarks, the HighPoint HPT370 ATA100 RAID controller impressed us with its superior speed and flexible setup. In all tests and setup, the HPT370 leads the Promise FastTrak 100.
Imitators of ABIT's SoftMENU III only testifies its user friendliness and ease of overclocking has never been easier.
However, the SA6R is not without quirks. We have confirmed that the board with its HPT370 implementation cannot yet work reliably in Windows 2000. Transferring of large files will result in a hard hang of the system. Additionally, the RAIDed disks will tend to break once the processor's clock frequency is changed. A catastrophic data loss is definitely not a welcomed thing.
We have decided to withhold the Editor's Choice to the SA6R but as one of the fastest i815E motherboard, we unreservedly give it our Performance Pick.
