I've looked at a few MP3 players, and I can say that the Rio 500 is one of the best I have seen to date. The design of the unit itself is excellent, being lightweight, small enough to fit in your pocket, and with all the buttons in easy-to-reach places. The intuitive MP3 browser included with the Rio 500 is also very handy for quickly selecting the song you wish to play. Sound quality on the Rio 500 is superb, even with the include earphones, sounding just as good as any CD player out there. Unlike a conventional portable music solution however, the Rio 500 features equalization controls, with four presets to get you rolling: normal, rock, classic, and jazz. You can also program your own EQ levels into the unit.
