The mighty Zeus's son may have fallen, but Hercules's journey back to mount Olympus is well underway with the release of the Prophet II. The Prophet II 32MB offers superior frame rate as a result of its GeForce2 GTS GPU. The bundled PowerDVD software DVD decoder compliments the TV-out feature found on the base model Hercules board. It would have been nice if Guillemot included a full version game, but the quality of software bundled games has always lagged behind and is not looked at as a critical selling point. The DVD playback was flawless, but the TV-out feature appeared a bit blurry at times and hopefully will be rectified with future driver releases. As for the ramsinks, the Prophet II offered no gain over a board with naked memory modules. In fact, the Gladiac proved a better overclocker. Again, getting a video card that is overclocker-friendly is harder than finding a CPU overclocking gem. Since there are no batch numbers visible on the box, your selection is left up to luck. Overall, for your gaming needs, the Hercules Prophet II will exceed your desires but there are plenty of more boards to come.
