Yikes, I had enough time during the first complex test to take a shower, and I played a game of NFL 2k on Dreamcast during the second! First of all, it appears that right now "Auto"="Off". There was actually a speed boost when T&L was turned completely off. However, look at that simple test! T&L gives it a gigantic boost. The PII 400 simply cannot do the T&L well while doing all of the other instructions. There is a catch here, though. I have noticed that in most OpenGL games, like Quake3 and SoF, when T&L is turned on there is horrible texture corruption and flashing. For those of you that have blasing fast CPU's, you may not see that much of an increase. In fact, you may see a decrease in performance. The fact of the matter is your sizzling Athlon may be able to do T&L faster and better than the Savage2000. So those of you that are dissapointed in your results may have a reason for that. On a side note, you probably have noticed the D3D T&L button in ICT. Its my belief that this button is a complete dud right now. I've tried numerous D3D games and not one shows any difference between T&L on and off. 3DMark2000 doesn't even recognize it. It looks as if Viper II drivers still have a good way to go before they have things fully in order.
