VIA en Trident smoken de vredesjoint nadat beide partijen hebben aangekondigd alle lopende rechtszaken te laten vallen. Als onderdeel van de overeenkomst stuurt VIA een bedrag van 10,7 miljoen dollar richting Trident:
VIA Technologies, Inc. and Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRID) today announced that they have agreed to resolve all pending lawsuits. Both parties agreed to enter a settlement agreement in order to better focus on respective businesses and avoid the costs, time and distractions of the lengthy legal process. Under the terms of the agreement, Trident will receive USD $10.17 million from VIA for a desktop software driver license fee, contingent on the dismissal of all pending lawsuits in US and Taiwan, which is not in complete control of Trident and VIA.
"We are pleased that these long pending business disagreements and lawsuits are being resolved," said Dr. Gerry Liu, president of the video graphics/communications business unit, Trident Microsystems. "This contingent settlement news not only encourages Trident and VIA but also re-affirms our commitment to the mutual customers. "
"With this announcement we have reached an agreement that is mutually beneficial to both companies," said Wen-Chi Chen, president of VIA Technologies. "With today's settlement, VIA and Trident can completely focus on meeting the needs of our customers."
