Volgens een artikel van China Times heeft AMD bij VIA voor het tweede kwartaal een bestelling voor 3 tot 3,5 miljoen EV6 chipsets geplaatst. Dit is opmerkelijk nieuws aangezien AMD eerder bekend maakte dat het verwacht 1,8 miljoen Athlon processors in het tweede kwartaal te verkopen. Het is niet ondenkbaar dat AMD deze verwachting naar boven heeft bijgesteld:
I went to the Taiwanese site and read the original news. It says Internal VIA sources told them that AMD ordered 500K VIA chipset in March. But AMD dramatically increased order for the Q2. 3 million is conservative. It could be as high as 3.5 million.The news site in Taiwan is like the New York Times or the Washington Post in US. Even with 3 million chipsets, AMD must expect to sell at least 2 million Athlons. WOW!!!
