Op de site van Apple is een eerste versie te downloaden van QuickTime 7 voor het Windows-platform. QuickTime 7 was al beschikbaar voor MacOS X Tiger, maar kan sinds vandaag als previewversie gedownload worden voor WIndows. De nieuwbakken uitvoering is vanaf deze server te downloaden en is geschikt voor Windows 2000 en Windows XP. Een van de belangrijkste vernieuwingen in QT7 is de ondersteuning van de h.264-codec waarmee niet alleen high definition media afgespeeld kan worden, maar ook film op mobiele apparaten bekeken kunnen worden.
