Software-update: Macports 1.7.0

Het Macports-project wordt door een opensourcecommunity gedreven die een eenvoudig en compleet systeem om opensourcesoftware te gebruiken voor Mac OS X beschikbaar wil hebben. Zo zou het compileren, installeren en updaten van een commandline-, X11- of Aqua-applicatie een fluitje van een cent moeten zijn volgens de ontwikkelaars. Het kan bijvoorbeeld vergeleken worden met Portage van Gentoo Linux. Voor meer informatie verwijzen we jullie door naar deze pagina. De ontwikkelaars hebben enkele dagen geleden versie 1.7.0 via de mailinglijst uitgegeven en voorzien van de volgende aankondiging:

MacPorts 1.7.0 has been released

The MacPorts Project is happy to announce that, after nearly a year in the making, the 1.7.0 version has been released. It is now available via the usual methods:

• selfupdate if you already have it installed
• package installers in DMGs for 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 (the latter two being universal builds)
• source tarballs, both .tar.bz2 and .tar.gz
• subversion tag

The list of what's new in 1.7.0 is quite extensive (so I won't list it here), the details can be found in the NEWS file or the somewhat more exhaustive ChangeLog.

A big thanks to the developers for their hard work with all of the various features and bug fixes in 1.7.0, and to everyone for your patience while waiting for this version.
