Mandriva bestaat sinds kort nadat Mandrakesoft en Conectiva door een fusie zijn samengegaan. Het nieuwe bedrijf Mandriva heeft daarom ook gelijk een nieuwe versie van hun besturingssysteem uitgebracht, namelijk Mandriva Linux Limited Edition 2005 die eigenlijk als Mandrake Linux 10.2 gepland stond.
