Software-update: Mandriva Linux LE2005

Mandriva bestaat sinds kort nadat Mandrakesoft en Conectiva door een fusie zijn samengegaan. Het nieuwe bedrijf Mandriva heeft daarom ook gelijk een nieuwe versie van hun besturingssysteem uitgebracht, namelijk Mandriva Linux Limited Edition 2005 die eigenlijk als Mandrake Linux 10.2 gepland stond. Zoals je ziet is de versienummering ook drastisch omgegooid. De release notes laten ons het volgende weten:

GNOME 2.10 is pas uitgekomen als hun laatste RC is begonnen dacht ik... (Zou niet erg slim zijn om daarna nog van GNOME versie te veranderen)

@Jainoxi(hieronder): Deze versie is eigenlijk alleen voor members dacht ik... De versie voor iedereen komt pas vrij (op iso) ergens in mei als ik het goed heb (netwerkinstalatie gaat inderdaad wel al voor iedereen.)

Voor zover ik weet is die niet minder gratis dan de x86-versie? Het lijkt me dat je voor ISO's voor beide platformen momenteel nog een Mandrakeclub account nodig hebt (over een maand verandret dit). Je kan alvast de volledige x86-64 tree vinden op ftp://ftp.belnet.be/packages/mandrakelinux/devel/2005/x86_64/

Het volstaat om de boot.iso te downloaden om een netwerkinstallatie te doen

Beginnen zij ook al met die (imho) lame versienummering via jaartallen. Binnen het open source gebeuren totaal ongebruikelijk, maar desondanks doet zo'n bedrijf het toch.
Van de andere kant: Eeuwig doornummeren vanaf 10 kan ook niet en een versienummer is bij een Linux distro niet zo relevant, omdat de versienummers van de afzonderlijke pakken de relevante factor zijn, niet het labeltje van de distributie zelf.

Die gebruikt grappige namen: "The Hoary HedgeHog"
(alsmede een ati-achtige jaar.maand versienummering, 5.04)

Gentoo heeft dat met het 2005.0 profile al een redelijk lange poos.

Dan heb je blijkbaar nog de oude (10.1) urpmi-media ingesteld staan. Op http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ kun je precies uitzoeken hoe je je urpmi-media op de '2005' editie instelt.

Ik heb de boot.iso voor i586 (dus niet voor de 64 bits) gedownload en gebrand. Ik heb hier een ADSL Modem + router in 1 van Sweex... Wat moet ik bij DHCP dan allemaal invullen?

Als het goed is moet het met DHCP allemaal automagisch gaan als je het hem zelf laat uitzoeken. Lukt dat niet?

Nope, lukt niet.
Als ik alles leeg hou dan is hij ongeveer 3 minuten bezig met Requesting DHCP of zo iets dergelijks maar even later staat er dat het niet gelukt is. Iemand nog die me kan helpen?
