De mensen van Mandriva hebben de eerste bètaversie van de Spring-release van Mandriva Linux 2009 aangekondigd. De nieuwe versie is vanaf deze ftp-map voor x86- en x86-64-systemen te downloaden. De belangrijkste vernieuwing die de ontwikkelaars in de bèta ten opzichte van alpha 2 hebben doorgevoerd, is de eerste ondersteuning van de eerste stap van Speedboot. Verder is deze release voorzien van KDE 4.2.0, Gnome 2.25.90, Xfce 4.6 rc1 en OpenOffice.org 3.0.1. Wat er nog meer veranderd is in Mandriva Linux 2009 Spring bèta kan in dit document worden gelezen. The beta release of Mandriva Linux 2009 Spring (code name Margaux) is now available. This beta version provides some updates on major desktop components of the distribution, including KDE 4.2.0, GNOME 2.25.90, Xfce 4.6 RC1, X.org server 1.5, OpenOffice.Org 3.0.1, qt 4.5.0 (RC1)
This Beta version proposes step 1 of Speedboot. This should improve your boot time. It’s not enabled by default. To test it, enter speedboot keyword at boot time. You can use Bootchart to test precisely effects on your boot time.
This release is available through
- DVD edition (32 or 64 bits) with a traditional installer
- 2 CDs GNOME with a traditional installer
- 2 CDs KDE with a traditional installer
These editions are free versions, without proprietary applications. You will find also live CD One edition with proprietary drivers for KDE or GNOME environment.
