VUPlayer is in staat om verschillende muziekbestanden en audio-cd's af te spelen. Daarnaast is het mogelijk om een audio-cd te rippen naar het Ogg Vorbis-, FLAC-, APE- of Windows Media Audio 9 formaat. Het programma wordt ontwikkeld in Microsoft Visual C++ en sinds kort is versie 2.4 beschikbaar gesteld. Het changelog ziet er als volgt uit:
