Software-update: Ocenaudio 3.21.4

Changes in Ocenaudio version 3.21.4
  • Adds SoundTouch as the default speed-change engine, with a smoother transition
  • Adds a safeguard against audio device failures on open
  • Improves editing during playback, which no longer restarts the transport
  • Improves the preview gain adjustment while the file is playing
  • Improves the toolbar time display during playback
  • Fixes a continuous CPU usage caused by the menu state update
  • Fixes failures loading, instantiating and closing VST2 and VST3 plug-ins
  • Fixes noise and dropouts when changing the playback speed
  • Fixes the marking of possibly clipped samples
  • Fixes Normalize, which now follows the visible level guides
  • Fixes the sidebar, which did not appear on the first click after a resize
  • Fixes hangs when stopping a recording and when switching the output device on Windows
  • Other bug fixes and improvements
Changes in Ocenaudio version 3.21.3
  • Fixes recording without pre-roll, which inserted the take about 0.2 s before the cursor and pushed the material immediately before it to after the recording
  • Fixes the toolbar popovers in full screen on macOS: they now follow the toolbar when the menu bar is revealed, and the bar animation no longer stalls while a popover is open
  • Fixes terms that were still shown in English in translated languages, among them the speed engine names and the group names in the shortcuts table
  • Fixes the Windows installer, whose internal plug-in shipped without identification and could therefore be treated as unknown by the system
  • Other bug fixes and improvements
Changes in Ocenaudio version 3.21.2
  • Adds stereo recording from a pair of device inputs, chosen in the recording routing, with the meter split across both channels
  • Adds a safeguard against an audio device that brings the program down: the next time the program opens, it is quarantined instead of being opened again
  • Improves the preview of the gain visual tools — fade in/out, ramp and ducking can now be adjusted while the passage plays, without restarting playback on every change
  • Improves preset handling in VST2 plug-ins: switching is much faster, the plug-in editor follows the chosen preset, and the preset takes effect on Apply even without pressing Play
  • Improves recording on Linux with PipeWire and PulseAudio, which keeps the input open for the session and preserves the routing made in the graph from one take to the next
  • Improves the routing popover on smaller screens, with scrollable content and a size measured against the space available below the point where it was opened
  • Improves the recording cursor with pre-roll, which takes over at the first recorded audio instead of appearing ahead after a freeze
  • Improves the file names suggested when saving the tracks produced by Ocen AI and by duplication, which now inherit the name of the source file
  • Fixes the gain applied to a selection, which ended up applying to the whole file when clicking outside it, on macOS and Linux
  • Fixes PCM export inside containers such as MP4, which produced a file with no audio while still reporting success
  • Fixes effect previewing on mono files, which came out distorted with both built-in effects and VST2 plug-ins
  • Fixes distorted previewing in Audio Unit plug-ins on macOS
  • Fixes an unexpected shutdown when previewing noise reduction
  • Fixes unexpected shutdowns when starting and stopping playback and when opening and closing audio devices on Windows, with WASAPI and with ASIO, including when the driver fails during probing
  • Fixes recording with pre-roll, where the cut point drifted after the punch and the start of the take came out with pitch variation and clicks
  • Fixes language switching, which now takes effect immediately, and parts of the interface that stayed in English even with the translation available
  • Fixes the preferences window, which now opens on the same screen as the main window
  • Fixes previewing in Dynamics Processing when switching between Hard Limiter and the other tabs
  • Fixes icons and indicators cut off on Windows when the screen uses fractional scaling, such as 125% and 150%
  • Fixes the installer being blocked by Windows, caused by an internal installer component that shipped unsigned
  • Other bug fixes and improvements
Changes in Ocenaudio version 3.21.1
  • This version was withdrawn shortly after release because an internal installer component shipped without a digital signature, and Windows could block it during installation. Please use version 3.21.2 or later.
