Versie 9.0 van Calibre is uitgekomen. Dit opensource e-bookbeheerprogramma is haast onmisbaar voor elke e-readerbezitter. Het kan onder meer alle relevante informatie en omslagafbeeldingen opzoeken, e-boeken bewerken en converteren om ze zo geschikt te maken voor de diverse soorten e-readers. Verder kan het programma kranten, tijdschriften en nieuwsartikelen op basis van RSS-feeds omzetten in e-bookformaat en kunnen er boeken worden aangeschaft bij de bekende webwinkels. Calibre is beschikbaar voor Windows, Linux en macOS.
In versie 9 is onder meer een boekenplank toegevoegd, wat een nieuwe manier is om alle boeken te tonen. Ook zijn er enkele optionele AI-functies toegevoegd, die bijvoorbeeld een suggestie kunnen doen welk volgende boek je moet lezen of vragen over de inhoud van een boek kunnen beantwoorden. - A new Bookshelf view with your books arranged on shelves showing their spines. Click the Layout button in the bottom right corner of the calibre window to switch to Bookshelf view.
- Viewer: Add an "Edit book" button to the viewer controls to edit the current book when the current book is in an editable format such as EPUB, AZW3 or KEPUB. It opens the editor at the approximate location that is currently being viewed.
- Linux: Add momentum based scrolling for the book list when using high resolution scroll devices like touchpads.
