Op het supportforum van WinAce is versie 2.6 beta 2 van het gelijknamige archiveringsprogramma te vinden. Nieuw in versie 2.6 is onder andere ZIP64-ondersteuning, waardoor het mogelijk wordt archiefjes te maken met een grote van meer den 4GB. Verder wordt AES-encryptie nu gebruikt en wordt het nieuwe multi volume-formaat van WinZIP 9.0 nu ook ondersteund. Het changelog, waarbij het gedeelte voor beta 2 alleen in het Duits te vinden was, ziet er als volgt uit:

Changes in the GUI
- Added support for the extended Zip64 format, allowing to create ZIP files beyond the 4GB size barrier. Zip64 files may now also include more than 65535 files.
- Added AES password encryption for ZIP archives.
- Added compatibility to Winzip's multivolume ZIP archives while still maintaining backward compatibility to ZIP multivolume archives created with previous versions of WinAce.
- New feature:
- Encryption of files without actually creating an archive
- Use 8 different encryption algorithms to securely encrypt your files without the need to compress them. The filenames can be scrambled Optionally as well for better protection. Files compressed with Windows will have the extension .xef and can be opened in WinAce directly.
- Full support for UUEncode, XXEncode and Base64 en/decoding. *.uue, *.xxe, *.mim file types can be linked to WinAce.
- User defined volume sizes can now be stores in an .ini file (volume.ini).
- It is now possible to enter volume sizes >2GB
- WinAce now interprets volume sizes according to the suffix (kB, MB) and displays the exact volume size.
