De Mozilla Foundation heeft versie 140.0 van Thunderbird uitgebracht. Thunderbird is een opensourceclient voor e-mail en nieuwsgroepen met ondersteuning voor verschillende mail- en newsaccounts. Verder zijn er een spamfilter, spellingscontrole, kalender en adresboek, en heeft het een aanpasbaar uiterlijk. Thunderbird is beschikbaar in twee verschillende versies, die beide als stabiel worden aangeduid. De eerste wordt vaker voorzien van nieuwe functionaliteit en wordt als Release-versie aangeboden; de andere, de Extra Support Release-versie, wordt alleen van bugfixes en stabiliteitsverbeteringen voorzien. In deze uitgave zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:

- macOS system notifications worked but email alerts could not be disabled separately
- Setting different archiving options for multiple identities did not work
- Thunderbird could crash in debug build when adding a news account
- Moving back in the calendar import dialog could break the Continue button
- Add-ons: Optional permission prompts for WebExtensions displayed wrong permissions
- Density and Font Size menu item buttons used incorrect icons
- Auto-unsubscribed dialog was intrusive, reappeared, and could not be ignored
- Thunderbird could show a misleading error message on IMAP login failure
- Modal alerts shown for expired articles when downloading news for offline use
- Status bar message did not include newsgroup name along with the account name
- Reconnecting to an NNTP server was potentially not possible
- "About" dialog incorrectly displayed "Daily" rather than "Beta"
