Galeon is een browser voor de Gnome-omgeving op het Linux-platform. Het programma maakt gebruik van de render engine Gecko van de browser Mozilla en biedt volledige compatibiliteit met verschillende standaarden. De ontwikkelaars hebben sinds kort een nieuwe stable release uitgebracht met 1.2.14 als versienummer. De release notes zien er als volgt uit:

Well, after far too long, here's a new 1.2.x release to coincide with the Mozilla 1.7 release. It's also significant because I'm not planning to try and keep up with mozilla beyond 1.7. AA font support is no longer supported for gtk1 builds of mozilla 1.8, making it pretty clear that it's viewed as deprecated so this seems a good point to stop. - Compatible with: 1.0.1, 1.1, 1.2.1, 1.3.1, 1.4.1, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7
- No more keeping track of new mozilla releases after 1.7
- 1.7 will be the next 'stable' release (previously was 1.4.x)
- Xft/Freetype2 support with gtk1 has been removed from mozilla trunk so you can't get nice fonts with newer versions of mozilla. As a result, I forsee a distinct lack of demand for support for 1.8a upward.
