NewsLeecher is een programma waarmee bestanden van Usenet kunnen worden gedownload. De ontwikkelaars hebben volgens eigen zeggen de beste features van programma's als NewsBin en GrabIt gecombineerd in dit programma. Vandaag kwam versie 1.0 beta 24 uit en deze kent de volgende wijzigingen:
- Added new option called 'Show Header Age' which shows the age of headers (in days) in the listview date-column instead of the actual header dates.
- Added shortcuts (alt+up/down/left/right) Alt+Up/Down selects the active group in the 'active group' dropdown list. Alt+Left unloads the active group and Alt+Right updates the active group.
- NewsLeecher now logs if posting to a server fails or succeeds.
- Added option only to write detailed download logging for 'failed' downloads.
- Dramatically improved the text-filter search speed. Up to 100% speed improvement when searching for articles in the active group and when searching for groups in the group manager. Other parts of the program, such as the header retrieval engine, will also benefit from this search routine optimization.
- More complete checking for Global Message ID mismatches. If you experience download corruptions, be sure to check the log for information about the corruptions.
- The 'Posting'-tab is automatically hidden if there're no postings in queue.
- Lots of internal improvements (Prepared NewsLeecher API for plug-in scripting support. Scripting will not be available before 1.0 final has been released though)
- Changed 'Read' button to an 'Open' button. Text articles will still be 'read' in a text-viewer, whereas binary articles will be launched in the program associated to the downloaded files.
- Some small improvements.
- Sometimes it wasn't possible to stop/start server searches. This should work now.
- Fixed bug where downloading articles would sometimes 'hang' in the queue.
- Fixed bug that sometimes caused the text in the filter boxes to be deleted unexpectedly.
