De elfde bètarelease van NewsLeecher versie 7.0 is beschikbaar gekomen. Met dit programma is het mogelijk om op een eenvoudige manier bestanden uit nieuwsgroepen te downloaden. Het programma ondersteunt nzb-bestanden, beschikt over een SuperSearch en kan gedownloade bestanden automatisch op integriteit en volledigheid controleren, en vervolgens zelfstandig uitpakken.
Versie 7.0 voegt onder meer een nieuw systeem toe om naar specifieke mappen te downloaden of uit te pakken, ondersteunt automatische detectie van par-bestanden die een verkeerde naam hebben en maakt het mogelijk om een filter aan te maken om zo bestanden in een bepaalde taal uit te sluiten. Sinds bèta 7 zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen doorgevoerd:

- Updated the code signing certificate used by the NewsLeecher installer, to comply with new requirements set by Microsoft. Instead of using SHA-1 for code certificate hashing, the more secure SHA-256 algorithm is now used.
- Changes to the GUI for the new "Free to Use" edition of the NewsLeecher client. Added a button and a panel at the top of the main window with info on available NewsLeecher subscription packages. The new button and panel controls are only visible when NewsLeecher is running in non-registered mode.
- A few minor improvements here and there.
- Fixed bug where the 'Launch Minimized' feature sometimes caused the splash screen to hang.
- Fixed bug where the 'Always Minimize to Tray' feature didn't work properly if used together with the 'Launch Minimized' feature.
NewsLeecher v7.0 Beta 9
- Many smaller all-round code performance optimizations.
- Fixed a couple of Repair & Extract bugs introduced in the previous betas, during the optimization of the feature. The bug fixes are related to split-sets and setting the default RAR extract folder.
- Fixed bug where the global 'SuperLeech Search Append' filter didn't work properly for some users.
NewsLeecher v7.0 Beta 8
- Implemented a 'Version History' / 'Releases' dialog into NewsLeecher. With the new dialog you can easily download and install any version of NewsLeecher ever released. The dialog also provides an easy way to browse the complete version history of NewsLeecher, version by version. The dialog can be accessed from 'Toolbox -> Releases' or by pressing the 'Releases' button located at the bottom left corner of the NewsLeecher settings dialog. Furthermore, the 'Notify on new Beta' and 'Notify on the Final' checkboxes that were previously located on the 'News' tab in NewsLeecher, have now been relocated to the new 'Releases' dialog.
- Lots of general code cleanup / optimization for better performance and lighter memory usage.
- Fixed serious bug introduced in one of the previous betas, that would make NewsLeecher leak memory when using Repair & Extract feature.
- Fixed bug that would sometimes trigger a bug when importing the same NZB file into NewsLeecher multiple times in a row.
- Optimized and simplified the Repair & Extract code.
- Fixed bug that would sometimes trigger when leeching incomplete articles fetched through SuperSearch.
- Fixed bug where NewsLeecher would sometimes open files with the default text file (*.txt) viewer, even though the files were associated with other applications.
- Fixed bug where queued articles with missing parts, would not always finalize downloading if they were imported into the queue from NZB files.
- Fixed bug where Repair & Extract would cancel on-going RAR archive extracts, if PAR2 files were added to the Repair & Extract view at the same time.
- The "Show Article Header" feature didn't work in the previous betas. Fixed.
