Driver-update: Intel Pro Network Adapters 8.0

Via grimson komen we te weten dat Intel een nieuwe driver heeft uitgebracht voor de Pro/100- en pro/1000-series. De release notes zien er als volgt uit:

This pack includes 10,100 and gigabit adapter base drivers and PROSet for Intel® PRO network adapters for Windows 2000 and XP. From 8.0 Master Software Release. Includes Diagnostics and Makedisk Utilities. Separate downloads are available for the User's Guides and other features including Management agents. This software may also apply to 8255x, 82562, and 8254x Intel® Ethernet controllers. Support for those products is provided by the board manufacturer.

What's new in the 8.0 software release?

Ik vond het vreemd dat intel ineens van versie 6.4 naar 8.0 is gesprongen (heb 6.4 nog geen 2 weken geleden gedownload). Als je in de inf's van de driver kijkt, staat er versie 7.0.3.00 (in de oemsetup.inf bijvoorbeeld).
Op de site van intel staat idd ook versie 8.0 aangegeven. Vind het maar vaag.

Heeft het eigenlijk nog nut om je netwerkkaart driver te updaten, ik heb zelf ook een Intel netwerkkaart vandaar dat ik het vraag.
