Nvidia heeft nieuwe GeForce/Ion-bètadrivers uitgebracht, de eerste uit de 290-serie. Het versienummer is 290.36 en zoals gebruikelijk zijn ze te downloaden voor Windows 7, XP en Vista, in zowel 32bit- als 64bit-uitvoeringen. Ondersteuning is aanwezig voor alle videokaarten vanaf de GeForce 6-familie en de Ion-gpu's. Versie 290 voegt onder andere de mogelijkheid toe om 'ambient occlusion' te kunnen gebruiken in Skyrim en Modern Warfare 3. Ambient occlusion is een manier om schaduw realistischer weer te geven. Deze versie heeft ook een aantal belangrijke bugfixes aan boord. Het volledige changelog is hieronder te vinden.

- Adds support for 3D Vision over native DisplayPort 1.1 connection - available on BenQ XL2420T and BenQ XL2420TX monitors.

- Fixes random flickering as Windows boot logo is loading or fading away.

- Fixes some random instances of triangular artifacts when playing Battlefield 3.
- Fixes corruption seen in Settlers 7 with 275.33 drivers.
