De ontwikkelaars achter de mediaspeler AIMP zijn bezig met de ontwikkeling van versie 3.0 en hebben daarvan nu de eerste bètarelease uitgebracht. AIMP is een gratis lichtgewichtmediaspeler van Russische makelij met ondersteuning voor de meest gebruikte muziekformaten. Het uiterlijk heeft wat weg van Winamp en is door middel van skins aan te passen. AIMP heeft een 18-kanaals-equalizer aan boord en ondersteunt plug-ins. Verder kan het programma cd's rippen, muziekbestanden converteren en tags editten. Versie 3.0 bevat naast een nieuw uiterlijk onder andere een nieuwe sound engine, een compleet vernieuwde muziekbibliotheek en ondersteuning voor ReplayGain.
