Software-update: Outpost Firewall Pro 2009 6.7.3 build 3063.452.0726

Agnitum heeft enkele dagen geleden een nieuwe versie van zijn firewallsoftware Outpost Firewall Pro uitgebracht. Het gaat om versie 6.7.3 build 3063.452.0726 en vanaf deze pagina kan zowel een 32bit- als een 64bit-versie worden gedownload. Het programma houdt ongewenste indringers en spyware tegen, filtert op niet-gewenste content en heeft een ingebakken privacy-controller. De volledige lijst met veranderingen sinds versie 2.1 kan op deze pagina worden gevonden. In deze release is onder andere het anti-spyware-gedeelte verbeterd en is een installatieprobleem onder Windows 2000 verholpen. Voor de volledigheid geven we echter alle veranderingen sinds versie 6.7 build 2957.446.0711, de laatste release die in de Meuktracker behandeld is:

goh, dat is lang geleden dat ik hiervan hoorde. Ik heb het lang geleden gebruikt, toen het gratis was. Ik kan zien aan de update history dat er niet zo heel vaak een update komt...

Vroeger was ik erg voorstander van Outpost echter ben ik afgehaakt door het slechte licentiebeleid: elk jaar weer betalen. Outpost was altijd heer en meester wat betreft instellingen / logging, goede resultaten in leaktests en tijden terug had je al een soort plugins / extentions als ik het goed heb.

Ze hebben zo nu en dan levenslange licentie in de aanbiedingen voor de reguliere prijs van de jaar licenties. Ik heb er anderhalf jaar terug een aangeschaft en alles werkt nog prima.

Ik volg het programma al een tijdje en ik vind het maar treurige boel.
Geen echte fijn instelling heb je.
Je weet eigenlijk niet of het wel werkt.

Hoe zo kun je niet zien of iets wel of niet werkt? De instellingensmogelijkheden van Outpost zijn altijd prima en uitgebreid geweest. Heb je niet gewoon wat tijd nodig om te wennen? Outpost richt het eea wat anders in dan de gebruikelijke firewalls.
