The new version of the open-source project- and service-management system includes a new graphical user interface, a help desk module, and the integration of more than 150 minor enhancements.
]project-open[, a provider of open-source based project-management software, announced the release of ]project-open[ version 3.4, which includes an improved graphical user interface (GUI), a new help desk module for the management of service processes, performance updates for larger companies, and more than 150 minor enhancements to usability and functionality.
“]project-open[ is now ready for medium-sized organizations” said Frank Bergmann, the founder of ]project-open[. “It is still unusual for open-source projects to include the necessary enterprise features required for larger organizations, like dynamic workflow, auditing for regulatory compliance, and financials. But we believe that this is part of the maturing process of OSS.”
Version V3.4 of ]project-open[ includes the following new major improvements:All packages are based on the ]po[ configuration system, allowing users to add new fields to business objects. Workflows make it possible to control the life cycles of objects. Integration links are available with Active Directory/LDAP, GanttProject and OpenProj. Integration with SAP and other back-end systems is available on request.
