1.41beta for Vertex is here, this could counter the need for 1.35 ;-)
Just a gentle reminder, this is a BETA release...if you don't have issues with 1.30 then do NOT flash, wait for the next final.
You moaned...we listened...
Enter 1.41beta...Its built off 1711 again, so still has TRIM also.
- faster copy speed.
- GC is less aggressive
- writes are improved (a little)
let the moaning/madness commence again
When flashed the FW on your drives will show as BETA...this is because we may have to tweak things still, but its solid enough right now for you to flash and test.
So...its a DOS flasher in IDE mode...NO JUMPER NEEDED. back up to be safe but it is a NON destructive flash...so your data should remain intact.
Flash one drive at a time, power off and replace the drives between each flash. To be able to flash the drive has to have 1.30 already.
THIS IS STILL BETA...Fridays Final is now gone due to this new build. FW will show as 1.41B this means BETA
Some are seeing slight stutters....try this and see if it helps: guys if you are seeing pauses/stutters in win7...try the following. open cmd running at admin and type fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 1 This will turn off TRIM.
Reason for doing this?
1.41B has TRIM and AUTO GC, they are linked.
What happens is win7 sends a TRIM command down to the drive, this triggers GC which does a full sweep and clean on the drive.
This is adding some write latency...hence you may see a stutter.
GC will keep the drive fast, you can always turn TRIM on and off...so when gaming TRIM off, rest of the time TRIM on.
To turn TRIM on type fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0
Remember this FW is beta, i have asked for some changes to stop TRIM triggering GC, GC needs to wait for total idle periods after say 15mins.
