Firmware-update: Nokia E66 300.21.012

Nokia is de laatste tijd druk bezig geweest met updates voor haar high-end toestellen. Zo hebben ze in het geval van de Nokia E66 een nieuwe versie uitgegeven met rugnummer 300.21.012. In deze update zitten veel wijzigingen en ook heeft Nokia weer features toegevoegd die aansluiten bij het huidige dienstenaanbod van Nokia, zoals Mail for Exchange.

Naast de mogelijkheid om het toestel bij een Nokia Service Point van de laatste firmware te laten voorzien, is het ook mogelijk om een toestel middels de Nokia Software Updater thuis te voorzien van deze firmware. Het is mogelijk dat de gsm door de leverancier nog niet goedgekeurd is voor deze update. Mocht dat het geval zijn, dan wordt aangeraden contact op te nemen met de betreffende leverancier, of langs te gaan bij een Nokia Service Point.

Alvorens een toestel van deze update te voorzien, is het wel aan te raden een backup te maken van de gegevens. Dit is mogelijk met de backupfunctie in Nokia PC Suite, of door een complete backup te maken naar de geheugenkaart in het toestel.

hmmmm ik kan nu eindelijk naar versie 200.21.118 updaten (Vodafone)

Volgende keer gewoon een non_branded toestel kopen bij een onafhankelijke dealer. Die is mogelijk een tientje of wat duurder (kan vreemd genoeg ook wel eens is het tegenovergestelde zijn), maar dan heb je wel gewoon een normale Nokia, zonder limitaties van wat dan ook.

Gratis als in "voor 0 euro bij een abonnement"? of als "los gekregen voor mijn verjaardag/bonus@work/whatever, zonder abonnement"?

Als eerste? Naja, gratis.... i.c.m. je abbo bedoel je? En als dan gewoon bij een onafhankelijke dealer zou zijn geweest, was `ie misschien ook 'gratis', anders waarschijnlijk een paar tientjes.

Ik ben blij dat dit is opgelost. Het gebeurde ruim 2x per week dat ik mijn toestel opnieuw moest opstarten vanwege dit probleem.

Voor de rest voelt het toestel nu iets sneller aan, maar dat kan ook zo lijken.

Heb net een toestel gedaan, maar 'Mail for Exchange' moest ik er naderhand met pc-tools (joepie) opzetten, omdat ie anders alleen maar Nokia e-mail wilde installeren.
