Software-update: DC++ 0.750

Vrijdag is er met versienummer 0.750 een nieuwe ontwikkelversie van het p2p-programma DC++ uitgekomen. DC++ is een van de vele programma's om bestanden via het Direct Connect-netwerk uit te wisselen. De twee plussen in zijn naam dankt dit programma aan het feit dat het in c++ geschreven is. Het pakket wordt door Jacek Sieka ontwikkeld en is een opensourcevariant van de originele Neomodus Direct Connect-client. Deze release is de eerste versie die stabiel genoeg gevonden wordt door de ontwikkelaars na de migratie naar MinGW, de Windows-port van de GNU softwareontwikkelingsapplicaties. 0.750 marks the moment where the migration to MinGW is mature enough to call DC++ a full MinGW compliant application. This release improves the program functionality and how it works on your system. Major enhancements include : openssl fix for older libraries, fixed major known crashes, updated help, minor GUI features, new interface for settings page, and the REF extension for NMDC and ADC that allow peers attacked by the CTM exploit(willingly or unwillingly) to find out the corrupted hub that is used for attacking.

Zoals rechts vermeld is dit dus nog officieel nog een unstable versie. De laatste stable is DC++ 0.7091.
Overigens gebruik ik al lange tijd StrongDC++ met grote tevredenheid.

een nieuwe DC++ wordt altijd als unstable uitgebracht, waarna hij als er geen problemen zijn na verloop van tijd doorschuift naar stable. Zodoende zal de stable versie altijd wat achterlopen, maar deze heeft ook altijd in het vak unstable gestaan.

Ik weet niet precies wat voor tijds periode wordt aangehouden, volgens mij iets van 6 maanden zonder problemen voor dat hij stable genoemd wordt.

Zelf gebruik ik tegenwoordig Airdc++, ik ben overgestapt van dc++ zo rond de 0.700 die zo vol met bugs zat dat ik een alternatief ben gaan zoeken met de stabiliteit van de 0.6 tak en de functies uit de 0.7 tak. Onder tussen bij ik al lang een blije gebruiker van airdc++ en zie geen reden om terug te gaan.

Airdc++ is gebouwd op basis van strongdc++ wat eigenlijk weer gebouwd is op basis van dc++ en allen mergen nog steeds code.

waarom airdc++? Hij is rete stabiel, er is een actieve community/developers, gebruikt weinig cpu en mem, is goed te customizen/naar je hand te zetten, bied vele extra opties (zoals skiplists, disconnecten van langzame downloads, ignorelists, highlights en multilanguage) en de speedlimit uit strongdc++ eruit gegooid, hier mee kom je geen fatsoenlijke hub binnen.

toch zal ik deze nieuwe dc++ even aan een testje onderwerpen, het blijft de granddaddy die ik jaren lang met plezier gebruikt heb,

De grootste troef aan StrokngDC++ ipv DC++ vindt ik dat je speed limiets kunt instellen, Dat kan handig zijn als je Game servers host en dan nog eens shared via dc over 1Gbps netwerkjes. Als je een oude PC is kun je dit nie zo gemakkelijk samen doen
