The Mozilla Organisation heeft dan eindelijk versie 3.2 uitgebracht van Bugzilla, die eerst gepland stond voor eind augustus van dit jaar. Bugzilla is een bekend 'bug tracking'-programma voor gebruik in een omgeving die voorzien is van Perl en Mysql, Postgresql of Oracle. Hiermee kunnen ontwikkelaars de gerapporteerde bugmeldingen en feature requests van gebruikers overzichtelijk rangschikken op prioriteit om deze vervolgens te behandelen. De gebruikers kunnen de voortgang van de afhandeling bekijken en nieuwe informatie toevoegen. De ontwikkelaars van Bugzilla plaatsten de volgende aankondiging online voor deze uitgave:
Release of Bugzilla 3.2!
Today we are releasing the first major release of Bugzilla after 3.0, Bugzilla 3.2. The release of Bugzilla 3.2 means that the Bugzilla 2.20 series has now reached End-Of-Life. This means that no development will be done on the 2.20 series anymore, and no new 2.20 releases will be made, even if there are security holes in the 2.20 series.

Ik moet morgen deze tool 'verkopen' aan een aantal collega's in een presentatie/demo, en die waren hadden in eerste instantie nog wat te zeuren dat ze niet alle invoervelden in Bugzilla terugvonden die ze in de huidige bevindingendatabase hebben. Nu je nog vrijer bent in het aanmaken van custom velden kan ik hun bezwaren mooi wegnemen.
