Software-update: AIM for Mac bèta 1

AOL is bezig met het ontwikkelen van een nieuwe Mac-versie van zijn instant messenger, die bekend is onder de naam AIM. De vorige uitgave met 4.7 als het versienummer stamt uit begin 2004, wat alweer een hele tijd geleden is. Daardoor ontbraken vele functies voor Mac-gebruikers die in de loop van de jaren wel toegevoegd waren aan de AIM Windows-versies. De beknopte aankondiging van deze eerste bètaversie ziet er als volgt uit:

Tja leuk dat AOL zich focust op de mac, maar waarschijnlijk gebruikt het merendeel Adium

Binnenkort zou windows live messenger compatible worden met AOL...
Dat betekent eindelijk dat we volwaardig kunnen chatten met de meeste windows users.

iChat AV is trouwens ook AOL compatible, en de apple-oplossingen zijn toch nog altijd de beste. (Office 2008 trekt op niks, Adobe CS4 wordt niks, alternative audio players zijn buggy..)

iChat AV is trouwens ook AOL compatible, en de apple-oplossingen zijn toch nog altijd de beste.

Misschien omdat de IM dienst van Apple (voorheen .mac, nu mobileme) het AOL/Oscar protocol gebruikt. Werkt inderdaad uitstekend, ik gebruik het al 2 jaar als primaire AIM client.

Maarja, als iedereen om je heen MSN gebruikt, dan houdt het gauw op.
In Europa is AOL gewoon een erg keline speler.
