Hamrick Software heeft vandaag versie 8.4.54 van VueScan uitgebracht. Dit programma kan worden gebruikt als vervanger van de bij de scanner meegeleverde twaindriver en biedt vaak net iets meer instelmogelijkheden dan de standaard driver. VueScan is nog geen 3MB groot, het is beschikbaar voor Windows, Mac OS X en Linux en het heeft ondersteuning voor ruim 750 scanners en de raw-bestanden van 209 digitale camera's. Het programma kan ook enkele bewerkingen uitvoeren, zoals crop, sharpen, grain reduction en het aanpassen van de kleurbalans. Om de ocr-mogelijkheden te verbeteren kan dit woordenboek worden geïnstalleerd, met daarin veelgebruikte woorden uit de Engelse, Franse en Nederlandse taal.
