Software-update: Skype for Linux 2.0.0.27 beta

Met enige regelmaat komen er nieuwe versies van het voip-programma Skype voor Windows uit. Voor Mac OS X en Linux is dat veel minder het geval. Ook lopen deze clients achter qua functionaliteit enigszins achter met hun Windows-broertje. Zo is verleden maand in de eerste bèta van versie 2.0 pas de mogelijkheid van videocalls geïntroduceerd voor Linux-gebruikers. Naast een paar kleine veranderingen en verbeteringen, bevat deze tweede bètarelease van versie 2.0 voornamelijk bugfixes:

New features:

• Command-line login functionality provided by --pipelogin
• Show when somebody is speaking during a call.
• API: Add GET/SET WINDOWSTATE functionality.
• Shift-Enter in contact list will activate the opposite default action on the selected contact (call instead of chat and vice versa).

Improvements:

• UYVY conversion for Apple iSight cameras.
• Changes to ease CPU usage on v4l(1) cameras.
• Support for more resolutions on v4l and v4l2 cameras.
• Avoid flickering in call window video area.

Bugs fixed:

• Crash for v4l cameras when switching resolution.
• Crash when finishing call with some cameras.
• Crash/memory leak with uvc cameras on fglrx driver.
• Workaround for uvc split-frame video bug with new Logitech cameras.
• Allow toggling of fullscreen while video is paused.
• Unable to resume video after resuming the call.
• Disable video while in a conference call.
• Crash on View Profile in Qt 4.3.1 and earlier.
• Fix contact/event skipping whilst scrolling through Contact List and Events History with keyboard.
• Fix Call button for newly added SkypeOut contact. Remove Chat button for newly added SkypeOut contact.
• Close chat window when you leave chat.
• Cancel search (if active) or close Search window if Escape is pressed.
• Add connecting animation to status icon.
• Don't call random names when quickfilter reveals a single selection and we press enter.
• Rejecting incoming calls from the incoming call popup should redirect to Voicemail if necessary.
• Incoming file transfer in Do Not Disturb should go to New Events area without popup window.
• Add tooltip for (flag:xx) in chat.
• API: "OPEN FILETRANFER ... IN path" command improvements.
• When offline, the number of online users should not be shown.
• Shift-F3 should bring Find in chat dialog with search direction preset to Up.

Ben benieuwd of alles via de command-line te benaderen is. Ben bezig met een skype naar sip gateway op te zetten maar je blijft X11 nodig hebben. Zou mooi zijn als dat eens afgelopen is

Anyway, je kan je username en passwd mee door geven aan skype. En dit werkt wel ok.

Hoe bedoel je werd tijd?

Volgens mij doet Skype het netjes met linux support. Als ik zo de "Update geschiedenis" kijk, is het toch wel elke maand een update.

Je bent inderdaad een tweaker, en je hebt zelf bewust voor een dependency hell gekozen, dus ga je gang met het installeren

Ik dacht dat RPM juist gemaakt was om deze hell niet meer te hebben...
