Op de homepage is in de vorm van 3.1 een nieuwe versie verschenen van Smultron. De update kan via deze link gedownload worden voor Mac OS X. Smultron is een in Cocoa geschreven tekstbewerker voor Mac OS X met lijnnummering en een ingebakken syntax highlighter voor onder meer html, PHP, JavaScript, Perl, xml en Latex. Smultron 3.1 wordt onder meer geleverd met een Nederlands taalpakket en kan daarnaast ook voortaan ASM-x86-code inlezen. Wat er veranderd is sinds Smultron 3.0.5 kan hieronder gelezen worden:
