Sinds versie 5.2 van Winamp is er ondersteuning aanwezig voor mp3-spelers. Deze algemene pmp-ondersteuning komt van de voormalige ontwikkelaar van de iPod-plugin voor Winamp, maar sinds hij voor Winamp zelf is gaan werken hebben anderen de ontwikkeling van de originele iPod-plugin op zich genomen. Met name voor iPod-bezitters is dat interessant, omdat deze meer fuctionaliteit biedt dan de algemene mp3-ondersteuning, zoals ondersteuning voor smartlists en podcasts. Tijdens de installatie wordt de ingebakken mp3-ondersteuning van Winamp (pmp_ipod.dll) verwijderd, indien aanwezig. Meer informatie kan in deze Wiki worden gevonden. Zojuist is versie 2.04 verschenen en het changelog laat de volgende veranderingen zien:
