Zojuist is versie 1.40 van de iPod-plugin voor Winamp verschenen. Met dit stukje software kan de iPod worden beheerd vanuit de mediabibliotheek van Winamp en dat maakt iTunes dus redelijk overbodig. De plugin werkt alleen met Winamp-versie 2.9, versie 5 of hoger, maar niet met de Lite-versie en vervangt de met Winamp 5.2 of hoger meegeleverde 'Portable Mediaplayer Support'-functionaliteit (ml_pmp.dll). Onder de veranderingen in deze release treffen we onder andere ondersteuning voor video's en podcasts aan, maar wel met enkele beperkingen, dus lees na de installatie de release notes even na.
