Vandaag is versie 1.55 van Xfire uitgekomen. Dit programma is bedoeld voor fanatieke gamers en stelt hen in staat te chatten met anderen, zowel binnen als buiten spellen, kan men eenvoudig in welk spel de mensen op de contactlijst aan het spelen zijn en kan men zichzelf vervolgens eenvoudig aan dat spel toevoegen. Ook kan Xfire helpen bij het vinden van een snelle gameserver met nog vrije plaatsen, kunnen gamepatches en demo's via een eigen P2P-netwerk worden binnengehaald en is er de mogelijkheid tot voicechat. Op dit moment worden er meer dan 550 spellen ondersteund, waarvan 155 'one-click join' en 317 'in-game chat' ondersteunen. Deze release geeft extra informatie over je vrienden. Zo kan het nu al laten zien in welke realm ze in WoW zitten, of de ranking en statistieken in Battelfield 2. De bedoeling is dat er ook additionele informatie van andere spellen wordt toegevoegd. - Added a new system of additional game data. When looking at a friend's infoview:
- World of Warcraft now displays the friend's realm.
- Battlefield 2 now displays the friend's bf2 name, and lets you look up his official rank and statistics.
- More game data will be added in future releases; we encourage modders to make plugins for more games.
- Added support for Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). If you have a NAT/firewall device that blocks some UDP traffic, Xfire will try to configure it using UPnP to enable voice chats and personal file transfers to any of your friends.
- Fixed a bizarre problem when clicking on certain ads in Xfire with Firefox as your default browser (previously, certain ads would open up multiple seemingly unrelated tabs).
- Fixed a major display glitch when running Xfire on pre-release versions of Windows Vista with the aero glass interface.
- Fixed several input and display bugs with group chats in Xfire In-Game.
