Het programma ecto is volledig uitgerust om desktop blogging uit te voeren. Ondersteuning voor verschillende blogservices is aanwezig, zoals Blogger, Blojsom, Drupal, MovableType, Nucleus, TypePad en WordPress. Je kan hiermee dus offline je blog schrijven om deze dan in één keer te uploaden wanneer je online bent. Het programma heeft een aantal handige functies aan boord en heeft ook nog eens een overzichtelijke interface. Voor het Mac OS X-platform is versie 2.4.1 verschenen met de volgende aankondiging:
A nasty line-break bug slipped into 2.4.0. It would occur if you were using MovableType with “Convert Line Breaks” as the default format. This is fixed in 2.4.1 along with one other bug concering attachment presets and image templates. My sincere apologies for the line-break bug as it bugged quite a few users. This will be the last 2.x release as I'm working on ecto 3. For a list of fixes in 2.4.x, please see the “History” file that comes with the download. If you come across an issue, please post it to the support forum.
