Software-update: Acoo Browser 1.27 build 905

Acoo Browser is een webverkenner en maakt gebruik van de engine van Internet Explorer. Het programma voegt allerlei extra functies toe zoals een pop-up blocker, tabbed browsing, mouse gestures, reclame filters en de mogelijkheid om in te zoomen op een internet pagina. Iedereen die benieuwd is hoe dit er dan uitziet kan hier een kijkje nemen. Sinds kort is versie 1.27 build 905 beschikbaar met het volgende changelog sinds de vorige vermelding in de meuktracker:

• Fixed a bug that proxy server can't be used properly in the Unicode version.

Version 1.18 build 438:

• Added Unicode version of the program, which is automatically installed instead of the ANSI one in case your OS supports Unicode (WinNT/Win2k/WinXP).
• Added the "Open Selected Sites" dialog, it will show at startup if you have selected the option "Resume this session on next start" or the browser didn't exit normally in the last session.
• Fixed the bug that the status bar of browser displays the activity of another tab window.
• Small enhancements and a few bugs fixed.

Ik heb het nog even nagezocht.. en het lijkt zo te zijn dat inderdaad Opera hun eigen engine hebben,
De oudere versies van Netscape draaien ook op hun eigen Netscape engine, vanaf Netscape 6 of 7 is ook Netscape over gegaan op Gecko.

Netscape is gebaseerd op mozilla, en is dus Gecko based.
Opera heeft een eigen rendering enige.

Hmm, ik vraag me af of dit soort browsers echt de toekomst hebben. Ze voegen alleen wat (naar mijn mening) "rommel" toe.

Er zit zeker toekomst in. Maxthon, een soortgelijke browser, claimed 38,682,991 maal gedownload te zijn.

Mensen willen tabbed browsing, ad/pop-upblockers en extra security, maar geen browsers die niet werken op sommige sites, ook al is dat de schuld van de sitebouwer.

En als je dan zo'n site tegenkomt open je de pagina in IE en surf je lekker verder met je moderne (niet IE based) browser. Persoonlijk kom ik vaker op een pagina die in 'standards compliance mode' (kijk maar in firefox's pagina info) werkt dan 1 die niet werkt in Firefox.

Overigens willen sommige mensen ook mousegestures, of de toolbar indeling aanpassen, of de theme veranderen, of skype integreren, of foobar integreren, of het weer integreren, of IRC integreren, of RSS integreren, of een andere downloadmanager, en en.
Ik ben blij dat je dat allemaal kan kiezen in me favoriete browser

Wees blij dat er tenminste mensen zijn die tijd en geld steken in een product waar ze niets aan verdienen (freeware). Vind ik toch dat je wel een beetje dankbaar voor mag zijn, ook al is het product niet helemaal jouw keuze, je HOEFT het tog ook niet te gebruiken??
