Following in MSI's tradition, the 6309 is another solid, reliable motherboard. When we saw "Version 1.0" written on our 6309 which, keep in mind, is also based on an entirely new chipset we were initially expecting to run into compatibility and/or stability issues. After weeks of testing the 6309 however, we were pleasantly surprised to discover this wasn't the case.We were also glad to see the Socket 370 interface present on the 6309. With Intel slowly phasing out the Slot 1 interface it's good to see MSI already has an FC-PGA product available on the market.
With rock-solid stability, good performance, and its FC-PGA compatible Socket 370 interface we really liked the 6309 and briefly considered it for our Editors Choice Award. However, with a slightly dated BIOS implementation and, more importantly, a lack of bus speeds, the 6309 doesn't deliver quite enough oomph to please the most hardcore consumer.
Those looking for an extremely reliable motherboard to build a system around however will find the 6309 delivers in spades.
