Overclockers Australisa heeft een review van de Abit VA6 neer gemikt. Dankzij de VIA Apollo Pro 133 chipset is dit plankje voordelig en erg geschikt voor hoge busspeeds, 150MHz bleek bijvoorbeeld geen probleem te zijn. Helaas blijkt de performance wel sterk tegen te vallen, iets dat we ook al in eerdere reviews hebben kunnen lezen:
Feature-wise this motherboard presents itself very well. Stability is impressive but a maximum FSB of 150MHz from a 133MHz-native board is not that amazing. It's also probably good value - although I couldn't find an exact price here in Sydney the Soyo and other VIA-based boards are generally cheaper than their BX counterparts. However, the performance freaks will take one look at the benchmark figures and look elsewhere. These are dissapointing figures from Abit, who are traditionally associated with high-performance hardware. Of course, the blame cannot all be laid at Abit's feet - the VIA chipset extracts a heavy memory-speed penalty which drags the overall performance down. Yes, it's perhaps a little unfair to compare the previous generation of VIA's chipset to the latest and greatest from Intel (i820) but this Abit board was only announced in December, almost exactly a month ago. Will VIA's 133A chipset improve this memory speed? One would certainly hope so.
