3DLabs meldt blij en gelukkig dat het als eerste fabrikant een professionele workstation 3D accelerator heeft gedemonstreerd op een Itanium systeem. Dit heuglijke feit vond plaats tijdens de SolidWorks expo in New Orleans:
3Dlabs has been working closely with Intel to port 3Dlabs' OpenGL ICD to the Intel IA-64 architecture; with the result that 3Dlabs is the first company with a demonstrable workstation-class graphics solution for Intel's new generation processor.``3Dlabs has a long history of collaboration with Intel on IA32 platforms -- and the development of accelerated OpenGL graphics on the IA-64 Itanium platform is therefore a natural extension,'' said Miguel Daud, Director of Marketing for Intel's Workstation Product Group. ``3Dlabs' support and assistance has been invaluable in integrating state-of-the-art workstation graphics technology with Intel's IA-64 advanced architecture.''
