CURRENTLY THE ATHLON IS CHEAPER AT EVERY SPEED GRADE! AMD launched a MASSIVE second strike at Intel. No other way to describe it, with price drops like that Intel will have to respond with large price cuts of its own. Expect Pentium 3's to drop at least 5% below same megahertz Athlons this week.[..] The Atlon+motherboard is now cheaper than a P3+motherboard at both 550Mhz and 600Mhz! Note that the Athlon does not have a price advantage at 500Mhz yet after motherboard costs are added; this will probably change when Athlon motherboard production ramps up and competition forces prices down.
