Ondanks een voorspoedige introductie van de PowerMac G4 verwacht ome Steve voor dit kwartaal enigzins tegenvallende winstcijfers. Het probleem zit 'm in een tekort aan G4 procjes:
Apple interim CEO Steve Jobs said the company's fourth quarter earnings are likely to fall below that of the previous quarter because of low shipments of its new G4 system.[...] Apple, which is set to officially announce its earnings on Oct. 13, said the company was unable to get enough of the processors to fill orders for its new, fast Power Mac G4 desktop systems that were announced at the end of last month.
"Apple has received orders for over 150,000 Power Mac G4s since the product was announced three weeks ago, and we regret that we will not be able to ship them all this quarter,'' said Jobs. "This is a temporary issue, and we hope to catch up early in the coming quarter."
